What is Greater Than Services?

Greater Than Services is an AI search optimization and website audit platform. It scans any website in about 90 seconds and scores it across three pillars, CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization, for human visitors), GEO (Generative Engine Optimization, for AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI), and ASO (Agentic Search Optimization, for autonomous AI agents). Beyond the score, it shows exactly why AI assistants aren't recommending your site and gives copy-paste fix code (JSON-LD schema, meta tags, HTML) for every issue. It also measures your AI visibility across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, reveals which competitors AI recommends instead, and hands you a per-question action plan for getting named.

What does the audit actually check?

We score your website across 18+ signals in three pillars. CRO covers conversion: headline clarity, CTA strength, trust signals, form friction, visual hierarchy, page speed. GEO covers AI search visibility: schema markup, answer structure, citation authority, semantic depth, meta optimization, freshness. ASO covers agent readability: semantic HTML, form machine-readability, predictable navigation, state communication, API discoverability, accessibility. You get a score out of 100 with prioritized fixes and copy-paste fix code for every issue, plus an AI Visibility breakdown: which assistants name your site, why AI recommends the brands it does, your average position inside answers, and which source sites to get cited on.

What's included in the free preview?

You can run an audit and see your scores without signing up or entering a card. The preview shows your overall score, the three pillar scores, and a sample of findings. Unlocking the full report ($4.99) reveals every finding, the copy-paste fix code for each one, the AI-visibility breakdown, and the downloadable PDF.

How long does an audit take?

About 90 seconds for the on-page scoring. Reports that include the live AI-visibility check take a little longer, because we're actually querying ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude with real buyer questions and waiting for their answers.

Why AI isn't recommending you

The most common reasons a site stays invisible.

Why is my website not showing up on ChatGPT or Perplexity?

Assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity don't index pages the way Google Search does. They look for structured data (JSON-LD schema markup), clear direct-answer formatting, content freshness signals like datePublished and dateModified, and citation-ready content. If your site lacks these, those assistants will skip it, even if you rank #1 on Google. (Google's own AI features are different. They lean on Google's regular rankings.) Our audit scores exactly what's missing and tells you how to fix it.

My website ranks on Google but AI assistants don't mention it. Why?

Because ranking and being quoted are different games. Assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude compose answers from pages they can parse, verify, and lift a sentence from, and plenty of sites that dominate page one fail all three. Google's own AI features (AI Overviews, AI Mode) are the exception: Google says they use the same ranking systems as regular Search. So your Google rank helps you there, but does nothing for the other assistants, which is why this is a separate discipline from traditional SEO.

Why is my website not in Google AI Overviews?

Google's official guidance is that AI Overviews use the same ranking systems as regular Search, so the first requirements are boring ones: your pages must be indexed, crawlable, and ranking reasonably well. Beyond that, Google favors unique people-first content with clear sections over recycled summaries. Note Google also says meeting every best practice still doesn't guarantee inclusion, which is exactly why we measure whether AI actually names you instead of just checking boxes.

How does Perplexity decide which websites to cite?

Perplexity retrieves a handful of candidate pages per query, then quotes the ones that answer most cleanly. Relevance, authority, and recency get a page into that candidate set; clarity decides whether it survives the cut. Backlinks matter far less here than on Google. A well-structured page with a recent dateModified stamp routinely beats a bigger site that buries its answer.

Does blocking GPTBot stop ChatGPT from citing my site?

Not directly, and this is the most common mix-up in AI SEO. OpenAI runs separate crawlers: GPTBot collects training data, while OAI-SearchBot powers ChatGPT Search results and citations. Blocking GPTBot opts you out of model training but leaves you citable in search answers. Blocking OAI-SearchBot removes you from ChatGPT Search entirely. Many sites blocked 'the AI bots' broadly and unintentionally made themselves invisible.

AI search optimization explained

The concepts and acronyms, in plain English.

What is AI search optimization?

AI search optimization (also known as GEO or Generative Engine Optimization) is the practice of making your website visible to AI-powered search engines like ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, and Gemini. It involves optimizing structured data, content formatting, freshness signals, and semantic markup so AI systems can find, understand, and cite your content when users ask relevant questions.

What is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization: the work of making your site quotable by answer engines like ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. Where classic SEO chases a position in a list of results, GEO chases being the source an answer gets built from. In practice that means clean schema, questions answered in their first sentences, and dates a machine can actually read.

What is Agentic Search Optimization (ASO)?

ASO stands for Agentic Search Optimization. It measures how well autonomous AI agents (OpenAI Operator, Google Project Mariner, Microsoft Copilot Vision) can read, navigate, and complete tasks on your website. As AI agents increasingly browse the web on behalf of users (booking flights, filling forms, making purchases), your site needs to be machine-readable with proper semantic HTML, labeled form fields, and accessible navigation.

What is the difference between SEO and AI search optimization (GEO)?

Traditional SEO targets Google's link-based ranking algorithm: it helps you appear in a list of results. GEO targets the systems that generate answers, like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. SEO helps you rank. GEO helps you get cited. In 2026, over 60% of search interactions involve an AI-generated response, so you need both.

What is llms.txt, and do I need one?

llms.txt is a plain-text file at the root of your domain that describes your site and points to your most important content in a format language models can read easily, conceptually similar to robots.txt, but for meaning rather than permissions. It isn't a formal standard and no engine guarantees it will be used, but it costs almost nothing to publish and makes your site easier to summarize accurately.

Getting recommended

What to actually do, and in what order.

How do I get my website recommended by AI search engines?

You need to optimize for AI search, also called GEO. The key steps are: add JSON-LD structured data (Organization, Product, FAQ, Article schema), write content that directly answers questions in clear language, keep your datePublished and dateModified metadata up to date, use descriptive H1 and H2 headings, and make sure your site loads quickly. Our audit checks all of this in 90 seconds and gives you a prioritized fix list.

How do I optimize my website for ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI?

Run an audit first so you know which signals you're actually missing; fixing blind wastes effort. From there the usual priority order is crawler access, then schema, then rewriting key pages so each important question is answered immediately under its heading, then freshness metadata. Site speed and a clean sitemap round it out. The audit sequences all of this for your specific site, so you start with the gap that costs you most.

How do I get my business mentioned by ChatGPT?

ChatGPT cites websites that have strong structured data, clear factual content, and authoritative domain signals. To increase your chances: allow OAI-SearchBot in robots.txt, add comprehensive JSON-LD schema, write direct answers to the questions your customers ask, get mentioned on the sources ChatGPT already cites in your category, and keep your content genuinely fresh.

Do I need to be technical to apply the fixes?

Mostly no. Every finding comes with the actual code to paste: the JSON-LD block, the meta tag, or the HTML snippet, rather than a vague instruction like 'improve your schema'. If you can paste a block of code into your CMS, theme settings, or site header, you can implement the majority of the fixes yourself.

How often should I re-audit my site?

Re-audit after you implement a batch of fixes, so you can confirm the score moved. Beyond that, monthly is enough for most sites. Pro and Agency plans include weekly monitoring, which re-checks your score and your AI visibility automatically and emails you only when something meaningfully changes, that's how you catch a regression from a site update without thinking about it.

Plans, agencies & billing

Pricing, client work, and account questions.

How much does an AI search optimization audit cost?

A single audit costs $4.99 as a one-time payment with a free preview included. You see your scores before paying. Pro plans start at $199/month for 50 audits with up to 10 white-labeled reports, and Agency plans at $399/month for 150 audits with all reports white-labeled and batch auditing for up to 5 sites at once.

Which AI assistants do you actually check?

Four: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude. We query each one live with web search enabled, using real buyer questions from your category, and record whether your site is named or cited in the answer, plus which competitors appear instead and which sources each engine pulled from.

Can I track my own buyer questions?

Yes. On Pro and Agency you can write your own custom prompts and we run each across all four AI engines, showing which ones name your site. Pro includes 5 free custom prompts each month and Agency 15, and they reset every billing period. If you need more, credit bundles are available and never expire.

Can I use this for client websites?

Yes, that's what the Pro and Agency plans are built for. Pro includes up to 10 white-labeled reports per month; Agency white-labels every report and adds API access and batch auditing for up to 5 sites at once. White-labeling replaces our branding with yours: your logo, company name, brand colors, and contact details on every page of the PDF.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel anytime by emailing us. You keep access until your current billing period ends and won't be charged again.
